"You are never too old to set another goal or to dream a new dream."
I'm Alexandra but feel free to call me Alex. I am the owner and photographer of Alexandra Grant Photography. I am a film photographer who specializes in weddings and portraits. Yes..film...medium format! I choose to shoot film because its timeless -- its a format that I have a passion for and love dearly. I grew up looking at 35mm slides of my Grandparents life, their photos are still in style even from 60 years ago. They have aged, but their photographs remain unchanged -- I want the same for my clients. Memories etched on film for forever.
People who know me would say I am multi talented because I run two successful businesses. When i am not photographing my amazing clients, you can find me in my hair salon cutting and coloring hair. I have 10 years of experience in running two businesses -- which means I am attentive to details, organized, good at managing people and time. If you need your hair re-pinned, Groomsmen need their hair fixed..I got you! Its like you are getting two for one, I will fix all those stray hairs before photos and throughout the day!
Over the years I have shot around the world in amazing places which has heavily influenced my photography. I have photographed 100+ weddings and have assisted numerous photographers. So you could say I have plenty of experience ;)
Whether I'm traveling to Scotland, the coast of California or to New York; traveling is something that feeds my soul like nothing else. When I have a chance to travel abroad you can find me at street cafe drinking a cafe au lait, taking photos of all the architecture, or chatting with strangers, running through open fields, going back on back roads - just getting lost
. If you love to travel, send me an email with your favorite place & favorite cafe! I'll just be over here dreaming up my next trip!
Every time I drive by an open field, I always envision my clients hand & hand walking through the golden grass, with the sun slowly setting, the emanate golden sky. I live for these moments, I crave these moments.
Sometimes its just nice to let down your hair and just run through an open field to let your mind release itself, soak in the fresh air. This is why I live for open fields.
I have two Jack Russell's, Baya (the darker face) & Gage (with the eye patch). These two are my little love muffins. We LOVE to go for long walks, go swim in the river & eat Ice cream. I also have 3 Cats that aren't pictured, too many animals to wrangle up. My cats names are Gnar, Echo & Kitty Kitty Meow Meow (Kitty for short). I love animals, and most animals love me. Minus my grandma's cats; she always adopts the socially awkward kitties, but HEY they need loving too ;)
When I was younger my Grandparents would put a dollop of frozen whip cream in a coffee cup with a splash of coffee...ever since then I've been hooked. Plus I thought I looked super cool drinking "coffee" like the adults. So you could say my Grandparents started my addiction at the age of 6.
Now that I'm an adult I just drink my coffee with a little cream & no sugar!
When I'm in Europe I prefer a cappuccino or a cafe au lait. European coffee is the best:)
I live for street photography. I love taking a random persons photo whether they see me and smile or they are simply in their own world. I think about these peoples stories. Each person I take a photo of, their face is engrained in my mind. Something about them caught my eye, maybe it was the outfit they were wearing, maybe its the instrument they were playing, or maybe it was the composition. There are so many things that can play into this, but one thing that connects it all together is, that moment in time is captured and made into a photo. A moment that is etched onto film.
